Review: Coconut Jucifer

Updated: Mar 5, 2021

Gnarly Barley Brewing

New England IPA

ABV: 6.0

"Stacked with more fresh coconut than ever (15lbs per barrel). This hazy New England style India Pale Ale is bursting with toasted coconut flavor up front and a juicy tropical fruit finish (think orange, mango & grapefruit)"

Gnarly Barley is one of the premier brewers in Louisiana and Jucifer is one of our favorite as well as one of their most popular beers so we were dying to get our hands on this limited release Coconut Jucifer.

Coconut Jucifer does everything Jucifer does with a little twist. It pours pretty much identical to the original Jucifer with that hazy well known IPA color and the same white head. The noticeable differences from the original come where they're expected in the smell and the taste. The best way to describe this one is that it smells and tastes like the original Jucifer had a baby with a deliciously ripe toasted coconut. Very refreshing and if you close your eyes long enough you can imagine yourself on a beach surrounded by coconut trees.

If you're a fan of Jucifer you'll be a fan of Coconut Jucifer and even if you aren't a fan of Jucifer but are a fan of coconut in general then this may be the beer for you!

Bayou Barley Score: 86
