Imperial Brown Ale
ABV: 11.9%
“Underground Mountain Brown is the harmonious drinking experience only achieved when our imperial brown ale, earthy Sumatra coffee and a year aging in caves below Grand Rapids come together. A team of malts complement the bold Sumatra coffee perfectly, while time spent immersed in oak creates layers of depth and complexity. A celebration of the barrel, the bean and everything in between.”
Another Founder's beer and another great one. This Imperial Brown Ale is available from Founder's September-October so your best chance of finding one near you will probably be during the fall and winter months.
Upon opening you get strong aromas of coffee, sweet malts, chocolate and the slight scent of bourbon. The beer pours very dark with a full khaki-tan head. As far as taste goes, this is a magnificently brewed beer and the year long barrel aging really shines through. The most pronounced taste comes from Samutra coffee with chocolate underneath and a nice bourbon barrel finish. At 11.9% this brown ale is a heavy hitter and gives a nice feel.
This is a top notch brown ale. If you find one near you definitely grab one!
