Review: Mookie's Juice

Rally Cap Brewery of Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Fruited Sour Ale

ABV 5.0%

This wasn't our first beer from Rally Cap, and will not be our last. Sour beers continue to be the trend in our area because of how refreshing they tend to be. This one is flavored with two of my favorite fruits (pineapple and strawberry) so going in there are high expectations.

Mookie's Juice is named after MLB player Mookie Betts. Mookie spent most of his career for the Boston Red Socks, but he currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mookie's pours out a copper color with a thin half inch thick head. The beer has a very fruity aroma; which should be expected from this type of beer. The initial flavoring notes are more strawberry than pineapple and remain that way throughout. There is a sour bitterness at the tail end which is nice prepping you for the next sip.

We love craft breweries and especially local ones. Rally Cap is becoming one of our go to beer destinations. Mookie's Juice is not the most memorable/unique sour out there, but it is a good sour that non craft lovers can easily enjoy. If you have any suggestions please fill out our contact form so we can give them a review.
