Review: Stand By

Pontoon Brewing

Stand By

West Coast IPA

6.6% ABV

"West Coast is the best coast when it comes to IPAs! Wrangling back the identity of a true IPA in its piney, resin-ey and citrusy form. Hopped with some classic “C” hops and some new age hops, we take a classic style and put a new age twist on it. Initial notes of citrus bounce on your tongue, evolving into some pine and resin ending with clean bitterness that balances out the beer. "- Pontoon Brewing

Pontoon Brewing has become a fixture in our beer review series. So much so that we are considering a trip to this special brewery.

Stand By stays true to its West Coast style pouring only a slightly hazy amber color. On top of the amber sits a cream-colored thin head about half an inch thick. The aromas are as expected pretty hoppy, but with the fruit notes very much present. The taste is of course bitter, but not bitter to where someone doesn't want another sip. Fruit notes are mostly present during the tasting. The sip is finished off with a nice crisp dry finish; basically begging you to take another sip.

We wouldn't drive an hour to grab this IPA, but we do plan to keep at least one can in our fridge for the summer months.
